My Heart

My heart will often lie to me
As hearts are prone to do.
It tells me that I am worthless;
A thing that is not true.

It makes me think I am not so good
And God does not approve.
The things I’ve done are just too bad.
It’s too late to improve.

It makes me wonder if I’m saved.
A thing the Bible states,
That if I trust in Jesus Christ
I will walk through God’s gates.

But God is greater than our hearts
And this is His request:
Loving with actions and in truth
Will set my heart at rest.
