Let your Yes be Yes and your No be No
Is what we all have read.
And one can promise many things
Through the meaning of what was said.

If someone says he’ll come at noon,
Though “promise” you have not heard,
If he shows up at 1 instead,
He is not a man of his word.

You may have waited all morning long
And thought of him the whole time,
But if he can’t get himself out of bed,
Well, that’s sure a telling sign.

He may say he loves you deeply
and cherishes you too,
But if he’s always late he loves
Himself much more than you.
